Thank you for organising our visit and the friendly welcome from the band members at the Barton Band HQ. Maggie, my wife, and Phillip, Dawn, Grace and Evelyn really enjoyed listening to the band in rehearsal. I was anticipating staying for a maximum of half an hour at the most especially with the young children, so I was surprised we lasted for over an hour before tiredness overtook them.
Special thanks go to Stig for his warm welcome, especially for his warning before the big bass drum played! Also to John, the percussionist, who rescued us when we were marooned when trying to open the locked door when leaving. Altogether a very enjoyable experience enjoyed by all the family.
Best wishes, Clive Thornes

On a bitterly cold night we truly enjoyed the excellent City of Hull brass band and all the soloists in the Christmas concert at the Hull Minster. It was with sadness as it was the last time that MD Stig Maersk conducted the band before he returns to his homeland, Denmark. We wish him well in his new venture and will always remember him for his cheerfulness and expertise in rehearsing and leading the band to its very high standard up there with the best.

Fantastic show yesterday. The soloists were extra special. Perfect way to light my Christmas fuse and get it burning. Thank you soooo much for visiting Beverley and can't wait to see you again 🎼🎼🎼😊🎼🎼🎼

Came along to Beverley Parkway Cinema this afternoon with my girls and we had a fabulous afternoon, first time for my girls seeing all the instruments and they really enjoyed it. They recognised the majority of the songs too. We'll be keeping an eye out for more concerts in the new year!

My hubby and I attended your concert at Parkway Beverley and thoroughly enjoyed every minute especially, in my case, the trombone trio! Such smooth tones from all the Band.
A credit to Stig whom we are sorry is leaving as MD but we wish him and his family a blessed future back in their homeland.
A very merry Christmas to all. Xx

Very pleased to see Neil Day back in “his” chair. Of course sincere condolences from us for the loss of his son to Covid. We are sure being with band member friends will help. Also welcome to the new players filling the vacant chairs. Looking forward to seeing and hearing you in Beverley Parkway.

Once again, a thoroughly enjoyable concert in the cold outdoors on Saturday at the Big Bus Day in the Old Town Museum Quarter, followed by an equally enjoyable concert in beautiful (and warm) surroundings on Sunday at the Elloughton Garden Party. The band and soloists performed at their usual high standard. It however was tinged with sadness to hear that it was Mark Unsworth's last performance with the band. Mark has been a stalwart of the band for many years performing several duties as well as playing the trombone with consummate skill. We have always enjoyed his solo performances. Even his party piece sequentially taking his trombone to pieces and reassembling it and never missing a note. It will be very difficult to replace his expertise and we will miss him. Thank you so much Mark.

Marvellous concert by the City of Hull Band along with Beverley Male Voice Choir at Hull Minster this evening. Remarkably fine playing and singing! I will never forget the performance of Shostakovich's Festive Overture: what a tempo! what dynamics! what drama!

Congratulations once again to the City of Hull Brass Band on a magnificent concert with the Black Dyke Brass Band. From the stirring opening, Mark Unsworth's melodic trombone solo, the comedic On the Boardwalk, to the spine tingling 1812 Overture with both the bands conducted by Stig Maersk and the patriotic music and singing at the end. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Congratulations on another brilliant performance. The 1812 overture was magnificent. The cannons sounded just like the real thing. My wife and I look forward to supporting you at the Albert Hall in October. Keep up the good work.

Dear Tony, please pass on a really huge thanks to your entire band. Not only did they play beautifully and entertain both the guests at the Naming ceremony and at The Great British Event outside Cutty Sark, they dealt with the complicated logistics and moving around of the substantial kit and not a grumble was heard when the heavens opened. I do hope nobody caught a chill sitting in damp jackets for the afternoon!!
Twitter has been very busy with posts from the event and our clients were extremely happy with the entire day.
All the best and thank you for coming all the way down to London and helping UK Fisheries celebrate such a special day.
Kind regards

EYMS/City of Hull Brass Band: Congratulations from the USA to the band on winning the North Of England Championships, including the several musicians who almost cleared the board in individual honour, and to Stig who we are sure coerced every bit of talent out of the group.
Can’t wait to return to Brantingham and of course we will as a minimum see the Champions in Hessle and at the City Hall with Black Dyke.
Best wishes, Clive and Maggie Thornes

To everyone in the band, and to your amazing conductor, Stig, I was singing in the Scunthorpe Chroal Society concert on Saturday. I was blown away by your performance! Absolutely brilliant! I hope to come and hear you again in 2019! Thank you for making Saturday a night to remember! Merry Christmas to you all!

Thank you so much for inviting me last night. Aled and I really enjoyed ourselves—the carols were great ( got carried away and tried to do the descant) and we were so impressed by the band’s skill and professionalism. Yule Tune was amazing! Sorry I couldn’t join you for a drink—would have been a laugh! Have a Merry Christmas.

Tony, sincere congratulations to you, Richard, Stig and especially the band (without which there would have been no recording). Under conditions that were far from perfect, I think you have done a magnificent job, so please do pass on my sincere and heartfelt thanks to each and every player for their diligence and care in producing a performance of real emotional integrity.

Just a note to say how pleased we were with the concert on Saturday. Ian is clearly a wonderful leader and sound of EYMS in St James’ is something I will not forget. Looks like we may have made over £2000 to go to local charities. I am going to come to other concerts that you do—let’s keep in touch for the future. Thanks to you all.

Enjoyed the concert last night as usual. All played well and again enjoyed hearing the Force of Destiny. EYMS are now a first class outfit and should do well with Stig at the helm or should I say “driving seat”. As an aside though it looked to me as if Brighouse had raided the local college bands. Their players looed sooooo young or is it just me showing my age! There was only one grey head in the cornet section.
